Let's talk about Giving Tuesday and your wedding. There are a bunch of different ways to support a charity, nonprofit or cause that is near and dear to your heart with your wedding.
You and your partner can donate to a cause that is important to you on Giving Tuesday, many larger groups and employers will match donations made on Giving Tuesday, so it's a great day to donate.
You can also use your wedding to support the causes that you care about whether that's setting up a charitable wedding gift registry where your wedding guests can make a donation right from your gift registry page. You can also choose to donate to a worthy cause in lieu of wedding favors. If you already have everything you need, you can ask your wedding guests to donate to a charity or nonprofit instead of purchasing you wedding gifts.
Here at The Garter Girl, we love VOW For Girls which is a charity dedicated to helping women and girls choose marriage on their own terms. If you're thinking about setting up a charitable wedding registry or support a nonprofit in lieu of wedding favors, definitely check out VOW For Girls and all of the good work that they are doing to support women and girls around the world.

On Black Friday when wedding vendors are serving up the savings and emails and social media posts with discounts galore are flying, is not the time to have important wedding budget conversations with the decision markers for your wedding spending.
Whoever is supporting and helping to pay for your wedding, such as your partner and your family, I strongly encourage you to get with them and talk to them before Black Friday.

Once this time of year rolls around, you are going to want to start actually spending money and if you have to wait to get approval and try to make decisions about how this purchase may or may not fit into your overall wedding vision - you might miss out!
Black Friday savings happen quick and are over fast, so if you want to take advantage for your wedding be sure to have your important wedding budget conversations early - as in well before Black Friday, so you're ready to go when the big day gets here! (And by big day, I mean Black Friday, of course!)
On Black Friday is not the time to be browsing around and taking your time looking around for what you want to buy for your wedding. You want to get out of browsing mode, and get into buying mode during Black Friday for your wedding. This means that you need to start your wedding budget planning and research before Cyber Week so that you're not wasting time and messing around or worse, overspending because you don't have a plan.
If you're a bride, our favorite tool to plan ahead for your wedding dress and outfit is to use our signature Bridal Fashion Budget Spreadsheet.
In addition to planning ahead for Black Friday to take advantage of sales for your wedding, you are going to want to avoid impulse purchases for your wedding because mistakes like that can really add up and cause you to bust your wedding budget. You should have plan going into Black Friday so that you aren't spending willing nilly (see above tip).

Also, be sure to check the return policies on anything that you purchase for your wedding. For example, if you purchase a few different wedding dresses online (which we don't recommend by the way!), thinking that you can return what doesn't fit you, you might be sadly mistaken when the online dress shop doesn't accept returns.
Be sure to triple check the return and exchange policy on anything that you purchase but definitely for your wedding. Most wedding retailers are not like everyday retailers and many do not offer return policies.
