Do you have a few questions about how your wedding garter should fit you? You've come to the right place! In my wedding garter 101 blog series, I go through lots of different questions related to a wedding garter. How your garter should fit and feel is certainly a great question.
The best word that I can use to describe the fit of your wedding garter is "secure." Your garter should be secure enough around your leg so that you can walk and dance and it won't fall off. But, it should not be so tight that it leaves a mark on your leg. Depending on what feels good to you, you can move your garter up and down your leg to find the right spot that is the most comfortable.
I tend to recommend that brides try to wear their garter just above their knee. This spot seems to be the slimmest part of the leg so that the garter won't rub on the other leg when you are walking. In addition, if you are going to do the garter toss ceremony, it won't be up to high that your partner needs to look around for it too hard!
The wedding garter might be a little awkward at first, but eventually you should forget that it is even there under your wedding dress. It should not be so tight that you are thinking about it. On the reverse, it should not be so loose that you are worried that it will fall down. Your garter should be snug enough to stay up all wedding day long, but not so tight that it hurts.
Before you purchase your garter, check the designer's recommended sizing and then ask if you have any questions. Be sure to try on your garter before your wedding day. If it is too tight or too loose, you don't want to find this out on the day of your wedding!
I hope that little bit of advice helps in your wedding garter decisions. For more questions and answers related to all things wedding garter, be sure to read my
