Hey, girl, hey

Hi there! I feel like we are friends now, so you can call me Juli. (Only people who don't know me call me, Julianne.)

I really am so excited that you are here! It still blows my mind that this is my life and this is my business.

I founded The Garter Girl based on my own personal core values of family first, love for tradition and being true to yourself. To know me is to love these things about me.

We have a motto around here and it is something that my dad always taught me, "Never be afraid to fail." It is a little odd that I left politics (I always thought I'd be the next CJ Cregg.) and now find myself making wedding garters, but I've never backed down from a challenge. When I couldn't find Brooke her most perfectest garter, I was not only going to find one worthy of her, but I was going to start a company just to make sure that no one else has this problem ever again! This, in a nutshell, is not just the story of my business, it is the story of me.

I have a major soft spot for anything hand made, but my true obsession is with personal style - mine and yours! I don't believe fashion is meant to be left in a box in the closet, which is why I'm typically the most over-dressed mom at the park.

Style has always been the heart of this business. It isn't a tagline or some gimmick that I made up to sound cool. I really, truly believe a pretty and stylish wedding garter just doesn't have to be that hard. There is no reason to settle for something that isn't amazing for your wedding - or in your life. Ever.

I grew up in a small, rural town in Pennsylvania. But, now I love living in the city surrounded by lots of people and being able to walk everywhere. I'm always ready to host, the more spontaneous the better. (I hope that you'll get in touch if you ever find yourself in Washington, DC.)

Before wedding garters and the three little kiddos that you'll see below, I worked in politics and media. I worked on Capitol Hill for a member of Congress, and in the White House's administration as the spokeswoman for the National Nuclear Security Administration. (Yikes, I know!) I also founded, edited and sold the DC area's biggest wedding blog, United With Love.

My mom always says that what is in my heart, comes right out of my mouth. I don't have a "poker face" at all, you can tell exactly what I'm thinking just by looking at my face. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into my life and my loves below.

You can always follow me over on Instagram (@gartergirl) for lots more of "the girl" behind The Garter Girl.

Thanks for stopping by!
