10 Must-Have Wedding Morning Photographs

In today's wedding garter 101 advice series, I'm talking about the 10 most epic wedding photo must-haves that you'll need from the morning of your wedding. It was so hard to stop at just 10, since there are so many amazing wedding morning moments, but I had to control myself. But, you believe it that this most epic list includes a stylish wedding garter! I mean, how could it not?

There are so many must-have wedding photographs that you could put onto a list and give to your photographer, but there is only so much time before you walk down that aisle and say, "I do!" If you are looking for those epic wedding photographs, those special intimate wedding day memories that you'll remember forever, then spend a little bit of time in advance of your wedding day, thinking about the wedding photographs that are important to you.

Here is my list of the top 10 photographs that you are going to want to get on the morning of your wedding. And, yes, this list includes a wedding garter, of course! But, this list doesn't include photographs from the rest of the day, like at your ceremony or wedding reception or that amazing sparkler exit you've been plotting for months! This is just my list of the critical wedding morning photographs for while you are getting ready for the big day that's about to happen.

In no particular order, make sure you get these photos from the morning of your wedding…

10 Must-Have Wedding Morning Photographs

  1. You having your make up and hair done
(Tip: Ideally, this is close to the end so that you are looking as good as possible!)
  2. Detail photograph of your bridal bouquet
  3. Your wedding dress hanging up before you put it on
  4. You and your bridesmaids in matching robes
(Tip: You'll want to do this after everyone's hair and make up is done!)
  5. Any heirlooms or special family pieces, like your wedding garter or a veil (i.e. your something borrowed)
  6. You putting on your wedding accessories, including your shoes, jewelry and bridal garter
(Tip: Put your wedding dress on first before the accessories. It also looks nice when a family member or a bridesmaid helps you with your accessories.)
  7. A styled wedding invitation
(Tip: Good props to use are flowers, stamps, straws, jewelry and your garter)
  8. Wedding welcome gifts for guests or that you have your bridal suite
  9. You and all of your bridesmaids dressed and holding bouquets
  10. You opening a gift or reading a letter from your fiancé

And one more for good luck:

  1. You, alone, all dressed up and ready to go

Once you have your list of wedding must-have photos, then be sure to let your photographer know. If you have a wedding planner, make sure they know your wedding photograph priorities too. Your wedding professionals are not mind readers and they only know what you tell them! (OK, they know a little more than that, but you get my point!) Your photographer will be able to look over your photo list and give you advice and suggestions and maybe a few things that you forgot about!
