Oh do I have something beautiful for you today! I recently hand made a custom wedding garter from the bride's mother's veil. Yes! I know that I usually share garters that I make from the bride's mother's (or grandmother's!) wedding dress, but today the custom garter that I want to spotlight was made from the mother's veil! It was a wedding heirloom dream come true and I loved hand making this garter set for the bride! Her mom cried, I cried - happy tears, of course! - it was all around amazing!
This custom wedding garter is a set, which means it includes a main garter and a smaller wedding garter toss. (If you are going to do the garter toss ceremony at your wedding, I'd recommend getting a garter to toss, but it certainly isn't required!)
For the main garter, I used an ivory satin background and then a few layers of the tulle from mother's veil. I added lace flower pieces that I took from around the veil and added them on top of the tulle as part of the design on the garter. I also added pearls to the lace flowers to make it extra dreamy! The tossing garter was a simple satin design with a little bow to coordinate with the main garter.

I know that the bride's mother loved seeing her veil have a new life as a wedding heirloom for her daughter to love forever! There were happy tears all around!
