  • Just wedding garters?

Just wedding garters! The Garter Girl is focused on designing and hand making beautiful wedding garters; that’s it. I know it sounds a little strange to be so focused on one bridal accessory, but the focus allows me to hand create the best possible wedding garters that are carefully hand crafted and full of love.

  • May I have a garter (or two) for a styled shoot?

You are in luck! The Garter Girl’s wedding garters love to have their pictures taken! The Garter Girl would love to work with you on your styled shoot and send you some pretty wedding garters. If you are doing a styled photo shoot, please get in touch with The Garter Girl directly at info@thegartergirl.com to discuss your design concept.

  • How long has The Garter Girl been in business?

  • Do I have to get a tossing garter?

Its your wedding day, you do you! No, you don’t need to get tossing garter if you don’t want one. The Garter Girl sells wedding garters individually or as a set (main garter and a tossing garter), so that you only have to get what you want. If you are planning to do the garter toss ceremony at the wedding, many brides opt for a separate tossing wedding garter, which is generally a simple version of your main garter. The tossing garter is then taken off and thrown during the garter toss ceremony at the reception. Brides get a tossing garter when they don’t want to toss their main garter or are worried about not getting their main garter back after the garter toss ceremony.

  • Where does the tossing garter go?

You are going to do the garter toss at your wedding ceremony! So fun! I can’t wait to see those pictures! The Garter Girl recommends wearing your tossing wedding garter just below your main wedding garter. If the tossing garter is below your main garter or lower down your leg, it will be easier to take off during the garter toss ceremony. The lower placement will hopefully limit the confusion on your partner’s part and help him or her get the garter they need for tossing! You might want to also mention to your partner that you will be wearing a tossing garter and he/she should feel around for the smaller garter for throwing.

  • Which leg gets the garter?

Such a great question! It doesn’t matter which leg you wear your wedding garter on. You can wear it on the right or the left leg. Your wedding garter will be beautiful and special no matter what leg you choose! Read this blog post by The Garter Girl for more information on where to wear your wedding garter.

  • Where should I wear my garter?

You can wear your wedding garter wherever is comfortable to you. The Garter Girl recommends wearing your garter just above your knee. You can move it up or down your leg depending on what feels good to you. If you are wearing a tossing garter in addition to your main garter, the tossing garter goes below the main garter so that it is easier to take off.

Once your heirloom is complete, which is usually about 3 to 4 weeks, I’ll send you a few pictures of your wedding garter to fall in love with! Wedding garters are made-to-order and take about 3 to 4 weeks to carefully hand craft. Custom garter designs may take longer and will be discussed prior to production. Once your garter is made it will be carefully packed in a branded gift box and tied with a bow. Then, the next step is shipping. Your garter will be shipped via the U.S. Postal Service, which is 2-3 days for U.S. shipments and approximately 6-10 days for international shipments. (Please keep in mind that international shipments can take up to a month, depending on the country.) Once your order is shipped, you will receive and email shipping confirmation.

If you need your garter sooner than 3 to 4 weeks, please email info@thegartergirl.com to talk about your rush order. Rush orders can absolutely be accommodated.

Special care is taken to ensure that your garter will last through the wedding day and beyond. The Garter Girl’s products are intended to be loved on the wedding day and passed on through generations for many lifetimes. All wedding garters are hand made in the United States by Julianne using high quality materials that are made in the United States when possible. Please know that hand made items are delicate and special care should be taken when handling your wedding garter. Certain materials, such as elastic and feathers, have a limited lifespan and might need to be replaced after long periods of time. • How do I care for my garter after my wedding?

I’m so glad that you’ve asked about caring for your wedding garter! This part of the process is so important to me, because The Garter Girl’s wedding garters are intended to be shared through generations and as such proper care is an important part of the heirloom process! All stylish wedding garters from The Garter Girl come with a keepsake, cotton bag to save and protect the garter before and after your wedding. All wedding garters are hand-made by Julianne and thus delicate. Please take great care when handling your garter. If your wedding garter is stained after the wedding, gentle spot cleaning with cold water is recommended. Wedding garters made with satin and grosgrain ribbon can also be soaked in cold water and laid flat to dry. Garters with feathers, flowers or rosettes should not be soaked. If your wedding garter is extremely soiled, a small amount of delicate laundry detergent, such as Woolite, can be mixed into a cold water bath or dabbed on as a spot treatment. Before putting your garter away in the keepsake bag for the long-term, please be sure to carefully clean and fully air-dry your garter. The cotton bag will help to protect the garter and absorb any oils or dirt that may still be on the your garter.

Sizing

  • Help! My garter doesn’t fit!

Having a garter that doesn’t fit is upsetting. Just know that we can solve this problem for you! Once you receive your wedding garter, please make sure to try it on. Please do not wait until the morning of your wedding to find out that there are fit issues. The Garter Girl recommends wearing your wedding garter just above your knee and then you can move it up or down depending on what feels good. Your garter should be snug and feel like it will stay up and on throughout the entire wedding day from walking down the aisle to the last dance at the end of the reception. But, it should not be tight, uncomfortable or leave deep marks. If your wedding garter is too tight, first try moving it down your leg. Move it to the skinniest part of your leg. If that doesn’t work and you have any concerns at all, e-mail info@thegartergirl.com right away to discuss possible solutions. The Garter Girl wants you to have a garter that you love and that fits you properly, so every effort will be made to ensure that this happens.

  • Do you have plus and/or petite sized wedding garters?

I’m so glad that you’ve asked about sizing because the only size that The Garter Girl carries is yours! In short, yes, The Garter Girl does have plus and petite size wedding garters. Ensuring that your garter fits you properly and that you feel amazing is very important. This means that I hand make all garters to order, just for you. Adjusting the size to ensure that it fits you perfectly on your wedding day is no problem at all.

The Garter Girl’s standard wedding garter size measures 14 to 22 inches around. When you place your order, if you say nothing about the size of your garter, it will be made to the standard size.

When you receive your garter, please try it on right away. You do not want to find out on the morning of your wedding that your garter does not fit. You may move your garter up and down, depending on what feels good to you. Your wedding garter should be snug so that it stays on from walking down the aisle to that last dance of the evening throughout your entire wedding, but it should not too tight that it is uncomfortable or painful. I recommend wearing your garter just above your knee.

Custom sizes and size adjustments will be handled at no additional charge. Simply email info@thegartergirl.com to discuss any sizing concerns.

  • Should I measure my leg before ordering?

You can certainly measure your leg before you purchase your wedding garter, but you don’t have to do so.If you have any concerns at all, just go ahead and measure before ordering. The Garter Girl’s standard wedding garter size stretches to fit 14 to 22 inches around. You can then move your garter up or down, depending on what feels comfortable to you.

If you decide to measure, you should measure around the part of your leg that you want to wear your garter using a flexible tape measure, or use a piece of string and then lay it flat into a measuring stick or ruler. The Garter Girl recommends wearing your garter just above your knee. Use this number to compare to the standard size. If your number falls within 14 – 22 inches, you should be good to go.

If you need a bigger or smaller size other than the standard, or if you have any sizing concerns at all, simply email The Garter Girl at info@thegartergirl.com to discuss your wedding garter size. Custom sizes and size adjustments will be handled at no additional charge.

For more information on how to size your wedding garter, read The Garter Girl’s blog.

  • What are your garter sizes?

This is a great question! The only size that The Garter Girl carries is yours! This means that all wedding garters are made-to-order, so size adjustments are no problem at all. Custom sizing is available and will be handled at no additional charge. If you have any questions at all about sizing, please do not hesitated to email The Garter Girl at info@thegartergirl.com.

The Garter Girl’s standard wedding garter size measures 14 – 22 inches around. If you say nothing about your wedding garter size, it will be made to the standard size.

The Garter Girl recommends wearing your garter just above your knee at the skinniest part of your leg. You can then move your garter up or down depending on what feels good to you. The most important thing is to try your wedding garter on when you receive it. Please try not to wait until the last minute or the day of your wedding to discover that your garter doesn’t fit or that it is uncomfortable for any reason. Changes can be made to your garter and The Garter Girl will work with you to make sure that you have a wedding garter that you love and that fits you properly. However, the more time you have before your wedding to make changes and adjustments, the better for everyone!

Please email The Garter Girl with any sizing questions or concerns info@thegartergirl.com.
