A camp themed wedding with a something blue bridal garter made from the bride's mother's wedding ring bearer pillow, and a super sweet story for the bride and groom, what else could you ask for in a real The Garter Girl bride post?! We can't get enough of the unique and personal touches in this wedding from the ice cream cart to the vintage car and so much more. When Megan moved home for a few weeks in the beginning of the pandemic, she didn't expect it to turn into forever...but it did! It turned into her happily ever after when her brother and Patrick's brother accomplished their mission of setting these two up! It just took a pandemic to begin this love story. Just wait until you see her real wedding garter made by The Garter Girl where we took apart her mom's wedding ring bearer pillow (yes!) and used the lace from the pillow in a wedding garter and handkerchief. You can see our pictures of Megan's heirloom wedding garter, embroidered handkerchief and her mother's refurbished ring pillow. After we took the lace of the ring pillow, we had to put it back together, of course! Megan and Patrick both grew up in Duluth, Minnesota, but their camp themed wedding was a great way to show off the town to their wedding guests who traveled near and far. You'll see a fun photo of their bridesmaids using a white board during their wedding toast. Bride Megan shared with us, "...my husband Pat and I each have one brother, and those brothers are each married to one half of a pair of sisters. So if you're still following, that's three sets of siblings and three extended families :) The white board toast photo is of our sisters in law giving a quick lesson to all of our guests with a little impromptu diagram." How fun!?! Photo credit: Sally Ryan Megan and Patrick's wedding photographer, Sally Ryan, was also Megan's photojournalism professor in grad school at Northwestern. Megan described it as "extra special" to have Sally photograph their wedding day. This couple's wedding had so much thought put into the theme and planning! Their inspiration came from one of their favorite movies, Moonrise Kingdom, and their wedding theme was "Camp Tie The Knot" as a nod to their love for Northern Minnesota. Much of the wedding decor was thrifted over the last year as they planned the wedding (you'll see how many brass candlesticks they polished in preparation)! And for a unique touch, the couple opted for VIPs or "very Important Partiers" in lieu of a big bridal party and opted for flower hair pieces or wrist corsages so the ladies could enjoy the flowers throughout the wedding day without having to carry them around! Megan's blue bridal garter is a beautiful heirloom for her to cherish for years. She chose the Something Dusty Blue bridal garter style, a design featuring dusty blue satin and a stripe of classic lace. The photographer captured beautiful images of Megan's bridal garter as well as her personalized wedding handkerchief with hand embroidered initials and wedding dates from family weddings.
